Eddie Howe's potential Celtic backroom team insight as Jonathan Woodgate hails 'well-drilled' Bournemouth staff

Jonathan Woodgate has pinpointed some of the key men behind the scenes at Bournemouth - who could be joining Eddie Howe at Celtic.

Record Sport understands his appointment at Celtic could be delayed until the end of May while he waits for a potential backroom team to become available.

Howe remains keen to for a reunion with some of his trusted staff from down south in Glasgow's east end.

However, their bid to win the play-off's and reach the Premier League again has put any departure from the Championship challengers on hold.

Woodgate is in interim charge on the south coast and has offered an insight into how the potential backroom team could operate in Premiership next term.

With the likes of Howe's long-time confidantes Steven Purches and Simon Weatherstone linked with a move to Parkhead, Woodgate has pinpointed the analytics department and Garvan Stewart as vital for the club.

He told the Bournemouth Echo of the set-up behind the scenes: “They have been really well-drilled.

"Garvan Stewart runs the shop up there, who has been really good for me.

“This club is just coming out of the Premier League but at Middlesbrough, I had two who were really good.

“When I got here there was one out of possession and one in possession, one for set-plays, one for goalkeepers, one who does the training sessions.

“Then there is the main one, Garv, who oversees it all. It is a fantastically well-run group – they work extremely hard.

“That benefits us. We do debriefs the day after a game, with the ball and without the ball, which is also exceptional and I’ve never had before.

“The lads who I worked with at Middlesbrough were very good but here, there’s more staff, so we can do more things.

“I’ve enjoyed working with them all – they have been good lads and if you treat people with respect you’ll get that back.”
