Eddie Howe has revealed that he organised a staff bonding session with his new colleagues at Newcastle United to ensure that everyone was on the 'same page'.
Howe will miss today's game with Brentford due to a positive Covid test, but had lunch with club staff in Gosforth last week following a hectic few days on the training pitches with his players.
Although Howe has been spending up to 12 hours each day at the training ground, this get-together at the Three Mile gastropub allowed the new arrival to actually have some one-on-one time with staff.

The move went down well with those working behind the scenes at the club and it certainly did not go unnoticed in the press.
"It’s a dangerous headline: 'Taking the staff to the pub,'" Howe told reporters on Zoom. "When I was setting it up, I wanted to take the staff for some lunch to get to know them and build a camaraderie between ourselves.
"As much as we talk about the camaraderie of the players, the staff are just as important. We are new to the group and there are a lot of staff here. We need to make sure they’re on the same page as us.
"I said, “Can we hire a restaurant where we can have a bite to eat?' There was certainly no alcohol involved. Then the word 'pub' is used and that’s a dangerous word!
"But it was a very good gathering. I got to know the staff on a personal level and I think that can only help us in the battle that we have ahead."
