Eddie Howe's 'massive' Celtic backing as Harry Redknapp makes big call on boss' next job

Harry Redknapp acknowledges strong links between Eddie Howe and Celtic but reckons the manager is a shoo-in for a Premier League return this summer.

The former Bournemouth boss was odds-on favourite to replace Neil Lennon at Parkhead back in January as the Irishman teetered on the edge.

Fans have demanded a change in the dugout as the club's 10 In A Row dream collapsed and Howe emerged as a popular choice.

Redknapp dismissed the prospect of the 43-year-old returning to the Cherries and believes a job in England's top-flight awaits.

He told talkSPORT: "Eddie was massive odds-on for the Celtic job a few weeks back.

"There's absolutely no chance he'll go back to Bournemouth. No chance.

"But I think Eddie will get back into the game come the summer.

"There will be a Premier League club for Eddie, I think he'll come back."

Redknapp previously told Record Sport he wouldn't rule out nephew Frank Lampard taking an interest in the Parkhead hotseat.

Lampard was sacked by Chelsea in January and swiftly replaced by Thomas Tuchel.

And his uncle Harry told us: “That’s certainly something that would interest any manager. It’s a great football club to come and manage, that’s for sure.

“Neil Lennon is still there so I wouldn’t want to talk too much about someone else taking his job but obviously it would be interesting to see Frank in direct opposition to Steven Gerrard.

“I don’t know whether, if the Celtic job came up, it would be something that would interest Frank. Obviously Neil Lennon is still in charge and I wouldn’t want to see him lose his job.

“Would Frank want to jump straight back in if it did become available? I wouldn’t know.

“But you could certainly see the appeal.”
