Radio pundit Simon Jordan insists it's "laughable" if Eddie Howe wanted to pick his own director of football at Celtic.
Negotiations between the Parkhead club and former Bournemouth boss Howe collapsed on Friday afternoon and it's thought that centred around an inability to secure the backroom team of his choice.
Howe was keen on bringing former Scotland international Richard Hughes to provide oversight, though it's not confirmed what his official title would have been, while Simon Weatherstone and Stephen Purches were his preferred first-team coaches.

Outgoing and incoming chiefs Peter Lawwell and Dominic McKay have now moved on after a line was drawn under the chase three months after Neil Lennon's departure with a club statement, and former Australia manager Ange Postecoglou is the new man in the frame.
But while the club hierarchy has been taking the flak from fans Jordan, ex-owner of Crystal Palace, insists Howe does not come out of the saga looking good.
Jordan said on talkSPORT: "It's laughable to think that a manager would tell a football club who their director of football might be.
"But do you not think this reflects quite poorly on Eddie Howe?

"I understand the spin that it's because of player targets and so on, and so forth.
"But when you look at this and say, two-and-a-half months of discussions, for a manager to go into arguably one of the biggest jobs...
"I don't think it reflects well on anyone, but the opportunity for Eddie Howe to manage Celtic is still a significant one.
"With the greatest respect in the world, Bournemouth are a certain type of football club. Eddie Howe's ventures out of Bournemouth were very poor at Burnley.
"To go back to Bournemouth, he's been part of a side that's been relegated and he's been given an opportunity to go to Celtic.
"You either get your backroom staff or you don't, and I think it's fundamental that anyone that comes into a club gets their backroom staff, but it's not fundamental they get a director of football of their choice."
