Eddie Howe nominated for Premier League manager of the month after Newcastle United resurgence

Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe has been nominated for the Premier League's manager of the month award. Howe would be picking up his fourth monthly award of his managerial career if he gets the highest vote but his first as United gaffer.

The nomination comes on the back of impressive wins at home to Everton and Aston Villa and the away win at Brentford plus a draw at in-form West Ham. Mikel Arteta, Ralph Hasenhuttl and Jurgen Klopp are the other candidates in a competitive field.

The award will be down to the influence of the fans and the Premier League said today: "The fans' vote will be combined with those of a panel of football experts to decide the winner, who will be revealed next week."

Howe's team climbed out of the relegation zone for the first time since September with 10 points from a possible 12. Newcastle winger Ryan Fraser has also been nominated for the player of the month award.
