Eddie Howe 'clarity' sought as Celtic hero warns club the clock is ticking

Stiliyan Petrov has warned Celtic next season is just around the corner as he pleaded for clarity on Eddie Howe.

The Parkhead club remain without a boss despite expectation the former Bournemouth manager will be appointed as Neil Lennon's successor.

It's understood Celtic must wait until the Cherries' season concludes before unveiling their top target.

They lead Brentford in the English Championship play-off semi-final and Howe, who remains on gardening leave, will land a substantial payout if they return to the Premier League.

But Celtic hero Petrov, although excited by the prospect of a new era, is mindful of a quick turnaround with vital Champions League qualifiers looming this summer.

"I hope we're going to see an appointment very soon," he told Go Radio.

"I mean, the new season is just around the corner again. We'd like to see a bit of clarity, somebody who is willing to change things in a different way.

"And then we can move on.

"I'm actually excited. I'm excited to see what Celtic Football Club will offer going forward to challenge Rangers next year.

"Who's going to be the new manager? New signings? This excites me.

"The more we wait, the more conscious we get."
