Eddie Howe blown away by Newcastle United support as 'sold out' boards placed on next six games

Eddie Howe has thanked Newcastle United supporters for their phenomenal response since he took charge of the relegation-threatened Magpies.

Forget the fact United are in a battle against the drop, you'd struggle to snap up a ticket as the new manager bounce, coinciding with the arrival of new owners, has got fans excited again.

Howe has made it a habit to take a lap of appreciation regardless of the scoreline after each Newcastle game so far with fans buying into his appointment back in November.

United have an outside chance of climbing out of the weekend if they can pick up a handsome win at Leicester today (2pm) and Burnley fail to beat West Ham at Turf Moor.

The scenes after the 1-0 win over Burnley last weekend saw supporters wait in their seats to applaud the side off long after the final whistle while the "sold out" boards have been placed at the ticket office for the last two home games of 2021 and all four of the next away matches.

Indeed, 3,300 Newcastle fans will make the long journey to Leicester today less than a fortnight before Christmas.

When asked about the post-match reaction after the win over Burnley, Howe said: "It was a really uplifting experience because it was the first time we have been able to share that winning feeling together.

"I think we only have to look at the stands and see them full, everybody is supportive and have an appreciation of what the players have delivered.

"I thought it was an amazing moment.

"I hope it is the first of many to come."

And when speaking about the sold out matches that will see Newcastle through to the end of the year, Howe added: "I'm very thankful to what the supporters have given me since I've been at the club.

"They have been absolutely amazing with me.

"I want to give them more, I want them to experience sharing the joy of those wins on a more regular basis and that is what I am pushing to do with how we train."
