Eddie Howe and Richard Masters speak out as Newcastle's pre-season plans officially confirmed

Newcastle United have confirmed they will be heading to the United States for the first ever Premier League Summer Series this July. The Magpies will jet across the pond along with five other top flight sides to play three games between July 22nd and July 30th.

Aston Villa, Brentford, Brighton & Hove Albion, Chelsea and Fulham are the other Premier League sides involved, with games taking place in multiple locations across the East Coast.

Newcastle will first take on Aston Villa at the home of Philadelphia Eagles, Lincoln Financial Field. Eddie Howe's side will then face Chelsea at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, home to Atlanta United. They will then face European-chasing Brighton at the Red Bull Arena in New Jersey.

"We look forward to taking the squad to the United States as part of the Premier League Summer Series,” Howe told the club's official website. "We know the quality of opposition will be strong, and the matches will be highly competitive as we prepare for next season.

"It's also a great opportunity to be close to our amazing fans in North America. We are blessed to have incredible support wherever we go, and we look forward to the opportunity to play in front of them at three great stadiums."

Premier League chief executive Richard Masters is no stranger to Newcastle after plenty of controversy surrounding the 2021 takeover. The league chief insists he is delighted to welcome the north east side and five top flight rivals into the first-ever Summer Series tournament.

Masters said: "We are delighted to be bringing six clubs to the USA in July for the first-ever Premier League Summer Series tournament.

"Our clubs have incredible supporters in the US, who passionately follow their teams throughout the season. We have seen this dedication first-hand from the tens of thousands who have attended our Mornings Live fan events and are excited to be building on this by bringing live Premier League action to five cities this summer.

"We are currently enjoying one of the most competitive Premier League seasons of all time at both ends of the table and I am sure we will see some thrilling matches during the tournament."

Tickets will be available for pre-sale on Tuesday, 25th April and go on general sale on Wednesday, 26th April. Fans can register their interest now via www.premierleague.com/summerseries.
