Eddie Howe and Celtic will run over Rangers and the rest despite board treating fans like mugs - Hotline

Celtic fans have been offered a fifty quid voucher for the club shop as a season ticket incentive but what they really want to do is cash it in for a new manager.

The Hoops legions are weary at the wait for news of Eddie Howe’s appointment but the club did make an announcement - on the sale of season tickets.

And the Parkhead side offered supporters some cash back after a disastrous season compounded by the fact they didn’t get inside.

Some might say that was a blessing as the 10-in-a-row dream died but they now want to look ahead to a bright new dawn.

The trouble is they can’t look forward until they know who - or Howe - will be at the helm and fans on the Hotline remain frustrated.

Gary Burns, Saltcoats, said : “It’s disgusting contempt by Celtic to give season ticket holders a £50 voucher to redeem in their own shop instead of £50 off their season ticket.

“I’m 78 and have never bought anything from the club store as it wouldn’t appeal to me.

“But with the way the club has been run in the last season it doesn’t surprise me - they treat us like mugs.”

Gerry Milligan, Erskine, said : “It’s Howe or never. Eddie must come to Parkhead today and sign on the dotted line or the deal is dead. Tomorrow might be too late.”

Kenny Wilson, Moffat, said : “I’ve never known a club to take as long as Celtic to appoint managers or sign players.

“We’re almost into June and still nobody has been appointed. With a serious rebuilding job needed this season, I predict a slow start on and off the park.”

Steve McSherry, Uddingston, said : “Now that Celtic are about to announce Eddie Howe as our next manager, I believe we are about to witness the biggest rebuild ever seen in Scottish football which will result in a restored period of domination.

“No other club has the finances that Celtic have and we are about to pull further ahead of the rest of the pack.”

Howe will be busy in the transfer market this summer as he looks to put his stamp on the club and there will be plenty of outgoings to deal with.

But the transfer fees previously quoted might be a bit ambitious according to one caller. Chris Lowe, Yoker, said : “Can anyone explain how, after a really poor season in Europe and domestically, Celtic players now entering the final year of their contracts are still supposedly worth mega millions?

“Kris Ajer is a poor man’s Jack Hendry and Odsonne Edouard is only good at penalties and scoring against Hamilton but we are been fed nonsense teams want them for millions

“Do cash-rich Celtic desperately need money?”

The managerial merry-go-round is in full swing and Malky Mackay was unveiled at Ross County with a fans backlash after the discriminatory text messages he was found guilty of sending while at Cardiff City .

But Frank McFerran, Carrickfergus, emailed : said: “Anyone who is up in arms about Malky Mackay getting the Ross County job should wise up. He who hasn’t made a mistake has made nothing.”

Another boss on the move was Record Sport columnist Barry Ferguson who stunned Kelty Hearts after leading them into the SPFL with a step up the managerial ladder to Alloa Athletic.

Dougie Young, Kelty, said : “Barry Ferguson will always be a hero to Kelty Hearts fans for what he achieved for the club and community.

“The Lowland League has plenty more teams ready to make that step up into League Two.”
