Eddie Howe 'agrees' Celtic deal as former Bournemouth boss waits on backroom staff

Frontrunner Eddie Howe has agreed to become the new Celtic manager, according to reports.

The former Bournemouth boss is the clear front-runner to replace Neil Lennon as manager but with just two games of the season to go no announcement has been forthcoming.

However, it now appears the 43-year-old has agreed a deal and will take charge of the club ahead of the 2021/22 season according to talkSPORT.

Howe is pulling together his backroom team and hopes to raid some of the staff at his former side as Bournemouth prepare for the Championship play-offs.

The report notes that Jason Tindall, his former assistant, will not be joining him in Glasgow's east end.

Howe has been out of management since leaving the Cherries last year following their relegation from the Premier League.

During two spells as manager on the south coast over an 11 year spell he led the side to the top of the English game through the lower league.

He now looks set to be handed the reins by Dermot Desmond and chief executive Dominic McKay as part of a massive overhaul at Celtic.

The squad will need massive surgery after a season without silverware ahead of a battle with Steven Gerrard's resurgent Rangers.
