Eddie Hearn signs five-year broadcasting deal with DAZN

British sports promoter Eddie Hearn has today signed a new five-year broadcasting deal with video streaming service DAZN.

While DAZN was founded in the UK, its name has been made abroad having launched in Austria, Germany, Japan, and Switzerland in 2016.

Further territories- including the USA, Spain, Italy, and Canada- were secured in subsequent years.

In December 2020, DAZN's programming went global with their online streaming service available for an initial price of just £1.99 per month.

From that time until now, DAZN has held exclusive rights to high-profile bouts including Canelo Alvarez vs Callum Smith, Gennadiy Golovin vs Kamil Szeremeta, and Ryan Garcia vs Luke Campbell.

This latest deal will be seen as a major coup in the company's attempts to expand, with Eddie Hearn and his Matchroom stable leaving Sky from June 12.

The current Matchroom stable includes huge names in the sport Canelo Alvarez and Katie Taylor. It is, however, unlikely that the deal will see Anthony Joshua's move from their current home on Sky Box Office. Further confirmation on this is expected in due course.
