Anthony Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn has laughed off claims that Tyson Fury tampered with his gloves during last week’s sensational knockout win over Deontay Wilder .
Fury put on the best performance of his career in Las Vegas at the MGM Grand, pummelling Wilder for the duration of the fight.
Mark Breland threw in the towel in the seventh round to save his fighter from further punishment.
That was the American’s first defeat of his decorated professional career.
But his fans haven’t taken the loss well and have sensationally claimed that the Gypsy King’s hands weren’t fully inside his gloves.
In videos posted on social media, clips from both their fights allege his gloves were ‘flapping’ when they connected repeatedly with the former WBC champion’s face.
Hearn laughed when the suggestion was put to him.
He told Boxing Social : “I think he used an illegal glove… not! Dunno really, bit weird.
“But if you’ve got your hand halfway in a glove, what benefit is that actually going to give you? You’re not going to punch them with the front bit.
“I have no idea. It’s up there with the suit, the heavy suit. I think you should ask Tyson Fury.”
Wilder has also blamed his outfit on the ring walk and his cornerman Breland for the defeat.
Also left unimpressed with the recent outlandish claims is Fury’s legendary cutman, Jacob ’Stitch’ Duran.
He told Boxing Social: "I’ll give you the facts, the Nevada State Athletic Commission is one of the best commission in the world. They handle the gloves until it’s time to put them on.
“There was no tampering whatsoever, I was there. It’s just a big myth. Dispel those myths and rumours, it didn’t happen.”
It had been hoped that Hearn could help broker a deal to make an undisputed all-British title fight between Joshua and Fury.
However, Wilder has decided to enact his rematch clause, meaning that dream bout can’t take place for the foreseeable future.
Fury is expected to complete his trilogy with the Bronze Bomber this summer.
That means AJ is likely to fight his mandatory challenger Kubrat Pulev in June at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.
An official announcement on that is expected in the next week.
