Eddie Hearn has serious reservations about working with Frank Warren, but says he is prepared to speak to his arch rival.
Warren wants the best fighters from his Queensberry Promotions and Hearn’s Matchroom stable to face each other to boost British boxing.
Hearn has not completely dismissed Warren’s proposal, although he is guarded because of the bad blood between the two camps.
“It was an interesting move,” said the Matchroom MD. “I guess they’ve been working on that poster during lockdown.
“You’d think that if you were serous about something like that you’d just call me or send an email rather than put a press release out.
“But listen, there’s no reason why we can’t discuss it.
“So let’s see where it goes, but I understand it’s tough times so if I can help them out in any way, I will consider it for sure.
“Right now I’m laser focused on our business and delivering for our fighters.”
Warren claims the pair could stage huge clashes like Dillian Whyte against Daniel Dubois and Dereck Chisora against Joe Joyce if they worked together.
“All I know we’ve all been guilty, me as well, of fights that could have been made and have not happened for various reasons,” he told Mirror Sport.
“Let’s put all those differences aside now and let’s make it happen.
“What’s a bigger fight for Dillian Whyte after he fights Povetkin than Daniel Dubois? It would be mega and bigger than any fight except Tyson Fury.
“Chisora against Joe is a big fight. The fans know who they are. They’re not names on Scrabble boards.
“This would breathe a lot of life into boxing. These are fights the public would buy into.
“This is about the fans, forget all this bulls**t, which has gone on, this isn’t about my ego or Eddie Hearn’s ego, this is about delivering for the fans, so let’s make these fights happen.
“We’re blessed with a lot of talent in this country and this is a moment in time to make it good for everyone.”
