Eddie Hearn "over the moon" he's not involved with Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury

Eddie Hearn claimed he's "over the moon" not to be involved in the Jake Paul v Tommy Fury bout following a 'tasteless' pre-fight press conference.

The two boxers indulged in some virtual trash-talking, with Fury currently based in the UK and Paul in the US, to promote their clash in Florida on December 18.

Also present was promoter Frank Warren and Fury's brother Tyson and dad John - and it was the latter's vile remarks about Paul's girlfriend, Julia Rose, which prompted outrage.

He told the YouTuber "You know when Tommy knocks you out he's going to bend your girlfriend over and do her like a dog, in front of you.

"So I'm telling you straight, that's where we are coming from. If you don't like it, change the channel."

Even Fury, 22, had his head in his hands following the remarks, while older sibling Tyson looked elsewhere. Warren meanwhile, was visibly embarrassed.

BT Sport promptly apologised to viewers for airing the remarks, and now Matchroom boss Hearn has voiced his own disdain.

“I thought it was disgusting to be honest with you. You’ve got the younger generation watching that.

“Even, actually, for one time I felt a little bit for Frank Warren because I’ve been there on a much less cringe stage with KSI and Logan Paul.

“Frank was embarrassed. The language is terrible. I like beef, I love it, but for me it’s a bad look.”

Hearn went further, saying he was "over the moon" not to be involved in the fight.

“It was disgusting, it was tasteless, the language was terrible - but me saying that it’s ‘Oh it’s Eddie, it’s just because he’s not involved in the event’.

“The fight’s not bad, I don’t mind it, but the production and everything was so bad.

“It’s a bad look for boxing, BT knows that and Frank knows that, we know that - but it’s none of my business.”

'The Gypsy King' himself tried to make light of the situation, asking security if they could take the microphone away from his father while the presser was still ongoing.

Fury senior has refused to apologise for the remarks, having previously threatened to disown his son (Tommy) if he was unable to beat Paul, 24.

The fight will be the culmination of a year-long feud between the two social media stars, which has seen them trade insults online throughout 2021.
