Eddie Hearn on Lewis Ritson's world title hopes and fighting at St James' Park

Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn is hopeful could fight at St James' Park.

, 26, beat Robbie Davies Jr by unanimous decision in a thrilling super lightweight fight at Newcastle's Utilita Arena on Saturday.

The judges scored it 117-112, 116-112, 116-112 in favour of the fighter from Forest Hall, Newcastle.

can challenge for a world title and could face the winner of Reggis Prograis vs Josh Taylor, who fight next Saturday.

Speaking after the fight in Newcastle, Hearn said: "I think Josh Taylor against Lewis Ritson at St James’ Park is a 60,000 sell out and it is a pay-per view fight on Sky.

"But will be dictated to by Lewis [Ritson] and MTK whether they want another fight in February or whenever but I really feel like that is on."

The promoter doesn't believe next Saturday's fight will affect Ritson's chances of getting a world title shot.

"He [Prograis] still has a profile in the UK, he’ll be known," Hearn said.

"It is probably not as bigger fight as the Josh Taylor one. I really feel like he [Ritson] has got to be pushing for a world title fight now."

Ritson was fighting in Newcastle for the first time since a shock defeat by Belgium's Francesco Patera a year ago at lightweight.

"This is redemption for me," said Ritson. "I showed people I can box."
