Eddie Hearn is 'worried' about Conor Benn vs Chris Algieri fight in Liverpool

Chris Algieri's trainer has claimed Eddie Hearn is 'worried' about Conor Benn's chances in Saturday's hotly anticipated welterweight bout in Liverpool.

Benn, 25, has won both of his fights this year and is within touching distance of a world title fight in 2022. He earned a technical knock-out win over Sam Vargas in April before claiming a unanimous points-decision victory over Adrian Granados in September.

The son of the legendary Nigel Benn now has to get past 37-year-old American, Algieri.

With 28 fights on his record, Algieri is a stern test and his trainer, Derik Santos, believes Benn's promoter Hearn will have concerns about his fighter's chances.

Santos told MyBettingSites: “If you had to ask Eddie Hearn was he confident in Conor, or is he worried about this fight - he would tell you he's worried, but of course, he’s got to cheer for his man.”

He singled out the Brit’s arrogance as the main point of concern for Hearn,

Santos said: “As far as Conor’s undoing, what is any fighters undoing? Sometimes it's their own arrogance, sometimes it's their own thought that they're Invincible.”

“Conor has to look at himself in the mirror and ask himself can he really keep it together in the face of adversity? Does he really think that he's the greatest thing in the division? I’ve heard a lot of people, even from the UK, who are not exactly fond of his mannerisms. He can be his own undoing.”

The fight takes place this Saturday, 11 December at the M&S Bank Arena.
