Eddie Hearn gives Anthony Joshua vs Kubrat Pulev update as Arsenal and Tottenham fight it out

Tottenham Hotspur Stadium could soon be about to host another major sporting event as Anthony Joshua returns to the ring.

Following the success of the NFL games at the stadium back in the autumn, and with rugby union and rugby league games to come later in the year, boxing could be the next sport to take place in N17.

Tottenham's stunning new home has been tipped to host Joshua's fight against Kubrat Pulev in June but it appears they now have a serious challenger in terms of Arsenal and the Emirates Stadium.

So where will it be held?

Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has now provided an update as the stadiums battle it out to hold the event and he has claimed that a final decision could be on the cards very soon.

"It’s pretty much Spurs or Arsenal," he told talkSPORT. "We were at Spurs on Monday, it’s unbelievable, sensational.

"I’ve been in talks with Arsenal for a long time, they were in the running to hold Froch vs Groves II.

"Obviously their north London neighbours have developed this incredible stadium, but the Emirates is also an incredible stadium.

"Last night we spoke to the IBF and we just said we have a deal in principle, we’ll finalise contracts over the next week and we’ll confirm the date. End of next week."

Joshua was last back in the ring out in Saudi Arabia in December as he reclaimed his titles against Andy Ruiz Jr following his shock defeat against the American six months earlier.

The two-time unified heavyweight champion is now keen on returning to London for the first time since September 2018 when he beat Alexander Povetkin at Wembley.
