Eddie Hearn drops biggest hint yet over Anthony Joshua fight as Arsenal and Tottenham do battle

Anthony Joshua's return to the ring in June looks like it will take place at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Set to come up against Kubrat Pulev later in the year after beating Andy Ruiz back in December, both Tottenham and north London rivals Arsenal have been competing to host the bout.

Following the success of the NFL games in N17 last October, and with rugby union and rugby league games set to be played over the coming months, Spurs' stunning new home is the favourite to host yet another sport.

Well, following Tyson Fury's victory over Deontay Wilder at the weekend, boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has opened up on Joshua's plans with everyone in the country wanting the British boxers to come up against each other.

Jose Mourinho: I have no complaints about my players

"We want the Tyson Fury fight next," he said on Ariel Helwani's MMA Show. "AJ called me yesterday and said ‘how do we make this fight happen?’

"We have a mandatory in Kubrat Pulev. The great thing about the whole situation is Bob Arum promotes both Tyson Fury and Kubrat Pulev, so there is clearly a deal to be done if — and you are quite right — if Deontay Wilder exercises his rematch clause, there’s nothing we can do. That fight’s happening and we accept that.

"I hope he doesn’t but I’m confident he will. I mean, what else is he going to do? If he walks away from the rematch, he has to fight what, a tune-up bout? That basically says ‘I’m a beaten individual.’

"Anthony Joshua, when he lost to Andy Ruiz, everyone said ‘oh he shouldn’t rematch Andy Ruiz, he should come back, take a bit of time, get his confidence back.’ Listen, from the moment we sat in the dressing room after the fight, all we talked about was the rematch.

"And now we’ll see the championship mindset of Deontay Wilder. It's kind of out of our hands but I want to make one thing clear: if there is no rematch we want to do everything we can to make AJ against Fury next.

"If Wilder comes out and announces he wants the rematch, no problem, we fight Kubrat Pulev — looks like June 20th at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in front of 70,000, AJ comes home to fight in London.

"But for us, for AJ, the clear priority has always been undisputed and if there’s a chance to fight Fury next, we will grab it with both hands."
