Eddi Reader to play Kilmarnock as part of her 40 years in music tour

Singer Eddi Reader is to celebrate 40 years in the music business with a UK wide tour that includes a gig in Kilmarnock.

Eddi, who grew up in Irvine, is touring the country to celebrate 40 years of performing live.

And the songstress will play Grand Hall  on October 15 as part of the tour.

While growing up in Irvine and Glasgow, she became a regular at Irvine Folk Club with her heart to this day, favouring all things folk.

Eddi then travelled around Europe before becoming a session musician in London, performing with artists including The Eurythmics.

After her band, Fairground Attraction reached pop stardom with Perfect, Eddi then moved on to focus on her love of folk and Robert Burns.

A regular at Burnsfest in Ayrshire and a popular guest on Later with Jools Holland, Eddi has carved out a career as one of Ayrshire's finest singing stars.

And her connection with Irvine remains strong as her mum Jean, runs Broomlands and Bourtreehill Age Concern Centre where Eddi can sometimes be spotted entertaining the senior citizens who attend the clubs there.

Tickets for Eddi's 40th anniversary tour are available here
