Eddi Reader set to lead Burnsfest celebrations in Ayr's Rozelle Park

Eddi Reader makes a return to the Burnsfest stage today after a long absence.

She performed at the original Burns an’ a’ that! gig in the Fountain Court at Culzean.

She was just getting into her Burns ballads then, and now Eddi’s mastered it.

Her appearance is sure to boost the crowds at the completely FREE event.

The songstress is 60 in August but is still looking good.

Burnsfest 2019 at Rozelle Park in Ayr and runs all day.

The event has become hugely popular with families and picnics if the weather holds. Burnsfest sparks up at 1pm and runs until 10pm.

Eddi is orginally from Anderston in Glasgow but her family moved to Irvine where she spent her formative years.

Her album the classic Songs of Robert Burns met with International acclaim. Eddi was awarded the MBE in 2006 for services to singing.

A new studio album ‘Cavalier’ will be released later this year. Eddi Reader will join The Primitives, The Temperance Movement, The Pearlfishers, Tom McGuire & The Brassholes, DopeSickFly and The Barrstools as part of this year’s main stage line up.

This free family festival is delivered by South Ayrshire Council and sponsored by Burns Pet Nutrition and Owen Kerr Signs.

It also boasts a range of other attractions including A-Coo-Stick tent, Bairns Bunnet, The Mercat, Burns Howf with Soul DJ, The Haverin’ Hoolie, The Chillootery, Scran Street and The Poe-Tree.

Rabbie would have loved it.
