Ed Woodward makes admission over Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's Man Utd future in conference call

Ed Woodward has reiterated Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has the backing of the Manchester United board in his quarterly conference call to investors.

United boss Solskjaer is under pressure to qualify for the Champions League this season with a top-four finish. The Red Devils manager also has targets to fulfil elsewhere, as United compete for both the FA Cup and Europa League.

Former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has continually been linked with the Manchester United job, amid claims he could replace Solskjaer at the end of the season.

But on the day United's latest financial figures have been announced, Woodward has suggested the Norwegian has the backing of the Red Devils board.

"We are pushing for a strong finish in the Premier League, the Europa League and the FA Cup as we enter the final third of the season," said Woodward.

"We have continued to make progress on our squad rebuild, with many changes in terms of players that we have brought in and players that have come through our Academy; the foundation for delivering the long-term success that we are all working towards is in place as we implement our plan and our footballing vision with Ole."
