Some Manchester United players have reportedly been angered by the club's decision to become one of the European Super League's founding members.
United released a joint statement with the other eleven founding clubs on Sunday announcing their plans, but the news had already broken.
UEFA, the Premier League, Serie A, La Liga and the English, Italian and Spanish Football Associations had already issued a strong statement condemning the idea.
According to a report from the Daily Mail, some of United's players were left 'seriously unimpressed' about the fact that they found out about the proposal via media reports.
United chief Ed Woodward is said to have held an emergency briefing with the squad over Zoom to explain the club's decision but it did not go down well.
A source told the Mail: "Some of the players were seriously unimpressed. Not only that they were left to find out by the media about what had happened but that their manager was left to face the press when the owners had concocted this.
"Woodward attempted to appease them but the response was lukewarm at best. It hasn’t gone down well with many of them."
United's co-chairman Joel Glazer has been named vice-chairman of the Super League.
UEFA's president Aleksander Ceferin had earlier slammed Woodward in an explosive press conference on Monday.
"I have seen many things in my life," Ceferin said. "I was a criminal lawyer. I have never seen people like that.
"If I start with Ed Woodward, he called me last Thursday evening saying he's very satisfied with and fully supports the reforms [to the Champions League] and the only thing he wants to talk about was Financial Fair Play, when obviously he had already signed something else."
Ceferin also slammed Juventus chief Andrea Agnelli, adding: "Andrea Agnelli is the biggest disappointment of all, I've never seen a person that would lie so many times, so persistently as he did. It's unbelievable.
"We might be naïve in not knowing we have snakes close to us. Now we do. There will be legal action soon."
