Ed Westwick replaced in miniseries 'Ordeal by Innocence' after sexual assault allegations

Ed Westwick has been replaced in an already filmed drama series after the actor was accused of sexual assault by multiple women.

Christian Cooke will take over the role previously filled by Westwick in BBC One's three-part series "Ordeal by Innocence," and scenes featuring Westwick will be reshot beginning this month, according to Variety.

The miniseries had originally been scheduled for a Dec. 26 premiere on BBC One as part of the British network's holiday programming, but its release was suspended indefinitely in November after allegations against Westwick began to surface.

Three women came forward to accuse Westwick of sexual assault late last year, including two _ actresses Kristina Cohen and Aurelie Wynn _ who claim Westwick raped them. Cohen filed a report with the Los Angeles Police Department, which began investigating her accusation in November.

Westwick has denied the allegations.

The actor, 30, had portrayed Mickey Argyll in "Ordeal by Innocence" in the miniseries, which is based on the Agatha Christie novel by the same name and also stars Bill Nighy, Matthew Goode and Anna Chancellor.

A new premiere date for "Ordeal by Innocence" has not been announced. Production for the version featuring Westwick wrapped in September, according to Variety.

The decision to reshoot Westwick's scenes with a new actor comes weeks after director Ridley Scott opted to replace Kevin Spacey _ who is accused of sexual misconduct by multiple men _ in "All the Money in the World" with Christopher Plummer, despite the movie having already been completed.

It cost approximately $10 million from them to replace Spacey and reshoot his scenes, but Scott told the Daily News last month he knew immediately Spacey needed to be removed.

"Honestly, within about 22 hours I was on the phone with my partners and was saying, 'We gotta replace this, and I know who can do this. Is he available? Let's get into it,'" Scott said.
