Ed Sheeran weather warning as rain and 40mph winds forecast ahead of Roundhay Park gigs

Music lovers heading to catch Ed Sheeran's this weekend are being advised to pack a mac after the Met Office issued a yellow weather warning.

The Thinking Out Loud songsmith is bringing his Divide tour to a spectacular close with a series of massive outdoor gigs, including two at Leeds' Roundhay Park on August 16 and 17.

And because it's Leeds, it looks like it's going to rain.

According to the Met Office, there is a yellow warning in place for West Yorkshire on Friday along with winds of up to 40mph.

The downpours are expected to be widespread and heavy at times, leading to difficult driving conditions during the early evening and afternoon.

Fortunately the heaviest rain is most likely to fall "over high ground, where some places may see 60-80mm".

Public transport is also expected to be affected, with journey times taking longer, and flooding of a few homes and businesses is possible.

The yellow warning is in place between 8am and 10pm tomorrow (August 16).

But it's unlikely the hordes of 'sheerios' heading to Roundhay Park on Friday night will be deterred, especially considering Lewis Capaldi and The Darkness  have already been announced as support.

There is better news for those who had tickets to Saturday's show, when the forecast predicts sunshine and a small chance of showers.

The current weather forecast from the Met Office is:

Friday

Widespread outbreaks of rain, heavy at times, during Friday with strong and gusty winds.

Rain and wind starting to ease into the evening. Maximum temperature 19 °C.

Saturday

Sunshine and a small chance of showers throughout the day.

Most of the afternoon will be clear with temperatures of around 19 °C.

There may be some high winds.

According to organisers, the Saturday show has already sold out but there are still some tickets available for the Friday.

There has been a change to parking arrangements announced today (August 15), which you can find out about here.

And for those braving the elements on Friday, the set times for both nights are below.

Set times

4pm - Doors open

5:45pm-6:05pm - Opening act (TBC)

6:15pm-6:45pm - Lewis Capaldi

7:15pm-8pm - The Darkness
