Ed Sheeran was once voted the student most likely to become famous at his Year 11 school prom, it has been revealed.
The revelation comes as a new exhibition all about the singer/songwriter debuts near his hometown of Ipswich in Suffolk, comprised of personal memorabilia curated by Sheeran’s father John.
Along with the “Most Likely” certificate, which was awarded to Sheeran by his classmates at Thomas Mills High School in Framlingham, the exhibit also features a formal letter from the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford confirming that Sheeran had achieved straight Fs as a student. This was due to Sheeran quitting the music course after just three weeks after being offered to go on tour with Just Jack.
Also included are pictures of Sheeran one of the T-Birds in a school production of the musical Grease, and the leaflet that advertised Sheeran’s first gig in 2005, along with its setlist.
Tickets cost £3 to the gig, held at the Royal British Legion in Framlingham, and saw Sheeran sing tracks from what is referred to as his “first album Spinning Man” along with covers of “Wonderwall” and Green Day’s “Time of Your Life”.
Ed Sheeran: Made in Suffolk will run at Christchurch Mansion, Ipswich until 3 May, 2020. Admission is free.
