Music star Ed Sheeran has revealed a huge tour announcement is coming on Friday - and it has sent fans into a frenzy.

The Bad Habits singer shared the tour news during a fan Q&A he hosted on Instagram from New York on Wednesday night.

And at the same time huge billboards featuring Ed's signature maths symbols were appearing in major cities across the UK - including Manchester - which may be a big clue as to the location of his upcoming gigs.

Other cities where billboards appeared overnight were in Cardiff, Glasgow, Newcastle-upon-Tyne and London.

On his live stream, Ed revealed a tour announcement would be coming "on Friday".

His last major tour of the UK came in 2018 off the back of the biggest selling male solo album ever, Divide, and which included four massive sold out shows at Manchester's Etihad Stadium.

Answering a fan's question about when they could see him perform live again, Ed said: "There will be tour stuff announced in two days so watch out on Friday, yep."

Ed has also revealed he's had his eyes lasered so he no longer needs to wear his trademark glasses.

"I had my eyes lasered which is wild as I saw a crowd properly for the first time," he said.

Ed also thanked fans for their ongoing support over the years which has seen him catapult to worldwide music stardom with hits like Sing, Lego House, The A Team and Shape of You.
