Ed Sheeran says daughter cries whenever he sings new music

Ed Sheeran has revealed that his baby daughter cries whenever he sings her his music.

The Shape of You hitmaker welcomed his first child Lyra Antarctica with wife Cherry Seaborn in August 2020.

But the singer admits his daughter isn’t the "biggest fan" of his new music.

Speaking on BBC Radio 1, he said: "I’ll sing to my daughter who’s not my biggest fan. She just cries.

“I’ve got some she likes. She really likes ‘Shape of You’, the marimba sound is good but she doesn’t like anything loud or anything belt-y.”

It comes after Ed teased fans with new music on Instagram two years after he released his last album, No.6 Collaborations Project.

Sharing a picture while playing an acoustic guitar, the singer captioned the post: “Somethings [sic] cookin’"

His followers were quick to speculate over a new album on its way.

Ed and wife Cherry became parents for the first time last year, with the couple saying they were on "cloud nine" after the arrival of their daughter.

The couple kept their pregnancy a secret as much as possible and didn't go public with the news until their baby was born.

Ed finally confirmed the pregnancy rumours which had begun swirling on the showbiz circuit.

The couple were married in a private ceremony at their Suffolk home at Christmas 2018.
