Ed Sheeran has squashed feud rumours with his longtime pal Taylor Swift, revealing the pair had a massive hours-long catch-up after she got engaged to Travis Kelce — even though the rumour mill keeps trying to pit them against each other.
“I’m not self-conscious about my relationship with her,” Sheeran told Access Hollywood during a new interview.
“We’ve been friends for very, very many years,” he added. “We’re super close and we see each other when we see each other, and when we see each other, we lock back into where we left off.”
Sheeran — who apparently learned about the engagement at the same time as the rest of us thanks to his self-imposed phone and socials detox — also shut down talk that things got “strained” between them after Swift dropped The Life of a Showgirl only weeks after he released his Play album.
“My way of viewing it is like, me and Taylor are mates and I will see her,” he told the outlet.
“And I saw her a week after that happened, so I did that interview and then I saw her and you talk in person,” he said.
He added that when he finally caught up with the singer, they chatted for four hours straight about real-life stuff — not industry drama.

Sheeran also admitted that going phone-free makes him a bit hard to reach, and had a little rant about how socials can seriously warp how people see each other’s relationships.
“I kind of feel like being in touch with everyone, sort of you lose actual human connection,” he said.
Swift and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce announced their engagement on Instagram back in August, sending the internet into a full-blown spiral.
A few days later, before Sheeran hit the stage for the SiriusXM Small Stage Series gig in NYC, Andy Cohen quizzed him on how he found out about his longtime mate’s big news.
“Instagram,” the ginger singer replied.
“Instagram? Like everyone else? You didn’t even get a DM in advance?” a surprised Cohen asked, to which Sheeran simply said, “No.”
A music industry insider told the Daily Mail in October that the singer was “peeved” that Swift released her album around the same time as his.
“Ed takes these things really seriously, and carefully plans his album releases,” the source told the outlet last month.
