Ed Sheeran has reinvented himself as a DJ in 2021.
It's a new year and the new dad, 29, decided to try something different with his latest work in the music spheres.
Ed delighted fans with his return to the music industry with his song Afterglow in December after taking a break.
Now instead of singing and songwriting, the musician has plans to release his first ever remix next Friday.
It's a remix of his friend Passenger’s new song Sword From The Stone.
Ed's remix will hit the charts soon after Passenger, real name Michael David Rosenberg, dropped his latest album Songs For The Drunk And Broken Hearted.
A music insider told The Sun: “They have been friends for years after meeting when they were teenagers and have covered songs together before but never done anything like this.
“They’ve stayed really good mates and when Mike asked if Ed would be up for working together, he said yes straight away. Getting together in the studio wasn’t really an option in 2020 but Ed has produced this new remix of Sword From The Stone and they both love it.
“Mike has been the support act for loads of Ed’s concerts over the years, most recently in 2019 during his Divide Tour, so it was really nice for them to do something new together.”
Ed and Passenger go way back as childhood friends and the pair have been inseparable since they were 15.
It comes after the Shape Of You hitmaker took a break from music in 2019.
The songwriter became a dad for the first time when his wife Cherry welcomed their daughter Lyra into the world.
His new song Afterglow told fans the story of his trip to Antarctica with Cherry where they were believed to have conceived their baby.
Lyra has been named after the main character in Ed's favourite book series His Dark Materials.
