Ed Sheeran ‘lined up to sing next Daniel Craig James Bond theme song'

Ed Sheeran is being lined-up to sing the next James Bond theme tune for Daniel Craig's last outing as 007, according to reports.

The 28-year-old hit songwriter is said to be the hot favourite after he released his latest album, No.6 Collaborations Project.

It's been reported that Daniel Craig, who currently plays James Bond, is also keen to have Sheeran lay down some vocals for the anticipated track.

A source told the Sunday Mirror that Craig is a big Sheeran fan: "Daniel was introduced to Ed’s music by his daughter Ella.

"She loves Ed, and Daniel now really likes his stuff too and wants Ed for the theme tune".

The insider added: "Daniel is not just the lead actor on the movie but also one of the producers, so he has huge sway over every aspect".

Speaking on The Late Late Show back in 2017, the singer revealed, "I’ve had a theme tune written for about three years. I’m not going to say (the title) because someone might steal it, but it’s good."

If the artist does seal the deal for the job, he would join alumni of legends who have lent their vocals for the iconic tracks in the past.

Adele, who sung the last theme tune Skyfall, won an Oscar and a Grammy for being the official singer – so it wouldn’t be a bad job to accept.

The Standard has contacted reps of Ed Sheeran for comment.
