Ed Sheeran crowbars huge humblebrag into new collaboration with Stormzy

A lyric featured on Ed Sheeran’s latest record, No 6 Collaborations Project, comes disguised as a pretty huge humblebrag.

The British singer has unveiled the record, every song of which is a collaboration: among those featured ar Justin Bieber, Cardi B, Chance the Rapper and Eminem and 50 Cent who appear on the same track.

It’s Sheeran’s collaboration with fellow former Glastonbury headliner Stormzy that’s caught people’s attention, though. It seems that, upon respective first listens, this is the track receiving the most praise on social media.

Hidden away within the song is a lyric that sees Sheeran gloat about how much money he made on his most recent tour.

The lyrics go: “’Cause I haven’t been home in time, yes, I / But that’s my fault / Grossed half a billi’ on the Divide Tour / Yes, I ain’t kidding, what would I lie for?”

To be fair to the singer, he’s not wrong. In May, Billboard reported that the two-year tour became the second in history to gross over $600m, becoming the second tour in history to reach such a mark.

Despite this, it most likely won’t ever warrant a placement in the below gallery.

Sheeran most recently played himself in Danny Boyle film Yesterday, alongside Himish Patel and Lily James.
