Ed Sheeran just dropped the teaser of his latest music video for his new song and fourth studio album, Bad Habits.
The 30-year-old musician shared a snippet of his upcoming music video, and it appears that DC Comics were his main focus of inspiration.
Ed, who is set to release his lead single on June 25 from his upcoming album, appeared in a 20-second clip of himself wearing a hot pink suit.
As he teased the release of his new studio album, the four-times Grammy Awards winner came out embodying Heath Ledger’s Batman character, the Joker.
In the short video, Ed was seen walking along with seven other characters who all looked as if they came straight out of a DC action movie.
The eerie gang moved in slow motion in what resembled the empty streets of Gotham City.
Although no music could be heard, the loud sound of creepy bell chimes rang throughout the clip.
The Thinking Out Loud singer looked almost unrecognisable as he was wearing black eyeshadow with a touch of pink glitter under his eyes.
The musician - who notably wears simple and casual clothes - even sported some long witchy and dark nails.
The video, which was just released today, has already received half a million views.
The singer’s fans were visibly excited to witness the news as one commented: “Never been this excited about an ed Sheeran video.
“Looks amazing.”
Another person wrote on YouTube: “Finally Harley Quinn can have a new boyfriend.”
Ed’s last album, No 6 Collaborations Project, was released in July 2019.
The singer’s fourth studio album featured a variety of guest appearances from different artists such as Skrillex, Justin Bieber, Eminem, Stormzy and 50 Cent.
Moreover, Ed’s long-awaited comeback to music follows a hiatus after welcoming his first child last year.
Despite releasing his surprise single Afterglow last August, Ed has been busy with his new family of three, alongside his wife Cherry Seaborn.
Ed has been in a relationship with Cherry since 2015 after they became childhood friends and school classmates.
The lovebirds' story, who married in 2019, inspired Ed’s song Perfect.
Cherry gave birth to baby girl Lyra Antarctica on September 1 2020.
