Ed Sheeran 'adds £1m man cave and bowling alley to Suffolk mansion' despite plans to quit UK for US

Ed Sheeran has reportedly extended his £3.7 million Suffolk estate by buying a £1 million farmhouse nearby.

The Thinking Out Loud singer, 34, has been constructing the “Sheeranville” compound for several years and has added a pub, tree house, pool and cinema.

He has now bought a home just a stone’s throw away from the estate and is turning it into an “incredible man cave” with a gym and a bar, according to The Sun.

Sheeran - who recently revealed he’s relocating to the US - will also add a bowling alley to the home, which his wife Cherry Seaborn had previously vetoed.

“He bought a Grade II-listed farmhouse and all the land it sits on and is making it another home from home. It's likely he'll do all his entertaining there and can make it into a place where he works on new music,” an insider said.

“The land has loads of barns on it, which Ed is busy converting, One of them is being used as a recording studio.”

The source added: “There was also a piggery, which Ed has turned into the most incredible man cave. It's got a bar, a gym, a pool table and a bowling alley, which is something he's always wanted.”

The Standard has contacted Sheeran's representatives for comment.

The Shape Of You singer previously admitted Seaborn - with whom he shares two kids - had culled his plan for a bowling alley at the main house.

“I wanted a bowling alley in our back garden, but Cherry said no. She knew we didn’t need that,” he confessed.

“She doesn’t want our kids growing up in the Richie Rich house where there’s McDonald’s in our back garden.”

The UK-born singer also explained that while he has long been used to travelling for work, this time he plans to properly “settle” in the US with his wife and kids during his next touring run.

“I’m just about to move to America,” he said on The 2 Johnnies Podcast.

“I feel like I might be the only person moving to America… I’m going on tour there for a while, so I have a family, so I can’t dip in and out, we’re going and settling there.”

It comes after the Lego House hitmaker - who identifies “culturally as Irish” - said he wants to move to Nashville and transition to country music.

“When you transition to country, you can’t transition back,” he told the Call Her Daddy podcast in April.

“Nashville is my favourite city in the states and it’s always been my end goal to move to Nashville and transition to country.”
