Ed Oliver would love to play next to Myles Garrett with the Browns

Houston Cougars defensive tackle Ed Oliver was once considered talented enough to get consideration as the possible No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. An injury and a bit of a down season cooled that talk, but the lightning-quick DT is still a surefire first-round pick.

Oliver would love to pair with another No. 1 overall pick from the Houston area. That would me Myles Garrett from Texas A&M and now the Pro Bowl pass rusher for the Browns.

The final question of Oliver’s combine media session was a simple one: had he met with the Cleveland Browns? He gave a real encouraging answer for Browns fans,

“Me and Myles Garrett? There you go. Get a little one-two punch in there.”

The prospect of lining up a dynamic interior rusher like Oliver next to a monster on the edge like Garrett is the sort of thing that defensive coordinators dream about and offensive coaches have nightmares trying to figure out how to stop.

It seems highly unlikely Oliver will fall all the way to the No. 17 overall pick, where the Browns currently sit in the draft order. But it’s still nice to dream.
