Ecuadorian midfielder reveals he had offer from Man City - but wasn't allowed to join

Young midfielder Jose Cifuentes has revealed that he received an offer from Man City this summer but wasn't allowed to leave his club.

While City spent big this summer to bring Rodri, Angelino and Joao Cancelo to the club they also did a lot of work in bringing promising talent to the club.

Morgan Rodgers and Liam Delap both arrived and have already fitted in well in City's youth ranks while Pedro Porro and Ryotaro Meshino were brought in before leaving on loan.

City appear to be constantly on the lookout to unearth talent from all corners of the globe and were also linked with CD America de Quito's Cifuentes throughout the summer.

The 20-year-old never made the move but he has revealed that City were interested but he wasn't allowed to leave the club.

“All contacts are closed, it was published by the club owner, that they are not going to sell me, they need me,” the Ecudorian told Ecuavisa, via SportWitness.

“I have the desire to leave the country. That discourages me a lot personally because every player thinks about leaving but now that the opportunity is here they won’t give it to me.”

“My future is complicated, there are already two offers rejected by the club that has my sporting rights, the truth is I want to leave, but they won't let me.”

“The offers were from Manchester City, Porto and one from the United States.”
