Ecuador wonderkid is quizzed on Leeds United recruitment chief's admiration

Ecuador under-20s winger Alexander Alvarado has been quizzed on Leeds United after a Whites recruitment chief admitted he was an admirer.

The 20-year-old was part of the recent 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland with United sending European recruitment head Gaby Ruiz to watch the finest young talents.

Ecuador finished in third place at the tournament and Ruiz named Alvarado, who plays for SD Aucas in the Copa Pilsener Serie A, as one of the players who caught his eye.

Speaking to FIFA’s official website, Ruiz admitted he had been impressed with the under-20 side of Ecuador and he mentioned Alvarado.

He said: “The Ecuador midfield has been superb too, with Alexander Alvarado and Jordan Rezabala, while midfielder Alex Mendez and forward Sebastian Soto have done really well for USA."

Alvarado has now spoken about those comments and he admitted is planning to speak with his agent about it.

Info Cancha quote him as saying: “It’s something that I saw on social media, I have not talked to anyone, with my representative we talked, but not on that issue.

"In some days we are going to talk, the day that an option comes arrives we can make it public.”
