A sustainable business hub in Bristol has reopened with a new co-working space.
Future Leap, which is based in a 1930s art deco building on Gloucester Road, is a hub for companies, freelancers and charities interested in the green economy.
The new workspace has 70 socially distanced desks, a room for events, an ethical cafe and a lifestyle shop.
Founder Alan Bailey, who also runs sustainable events business Future Economy Network, says Future Leap is the one of the first business hubs of its kind in the UK.
“We offer a one-stop-shop for all things sustainable from products to environmental consultancy,” said Future Leap manager Fenna Leake.
“The government plans for investment in a green economy could not have come at a better time. However, more needs to be done to reach Bristol’s carbon neutral goals by 2030.”
According to Mr Bailey, the hub has been built in line with Bristol’s climate change targets.
Green features include air source heat pumps, mechanical ventilation heat recovery systems, and water conditioning and carbon-saving technology.
It also has carpets made from old fishing nets and chairs 3D-printed from crisp wrappers.
“[We have] ensured zero waste-to-landfill, with all original fixtures of this wonderful building being reused, upcycled and repurposed, displaying a wonderful mix of vintage and modern,” added Fenna.
“We welcome businesses to the hub, to discover, innovate and collaborate on building resilience in our communities and to be inspired along their sustainability journey through one of the many services we offer.”
