Eberechi Eze took part in Arsenal training on Monday for the first time, as he eyes making his debut this weekend at Anfield.
Eze completed his move to Arsenal last Saturday and was paraded in front of supporters at Emirates Stadium before a 5-0 win over Leeds.
The midfielder has joined from Crystal Palace as part of a deal worth £60million up front and £7.5m in add-ons.
The Arsenal squad had Sunday off, but they were back in for training on Monday - and Eze was part of the session.
The 27-year-old trained with his new team-mates for the first time and will continue to do so this week.
Eze will hope to make his debut on Sunday, when Arsenal travel to Premier League champions Liverpool.
The Gunners have not won there in the league since 2012, when manager Mikel Arteta was playing in midfield.
Eze could go straight into the team given Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz are both out injured, while captain Martin Odegaard is a doubt.
The arrival of Eze significantly bolsters Arsenal’s attacking options, and he is excited to get going, wherever Arteta opts to play him.
“There were talks about position, but as long as I’m on the pitch and given the opportunity to play and express myself in that environment, then it doesn’t matter where I’m playing,” said Eze.
“Of course, (Arteta) has ideas and things that he wants, but for me, I’m free.
“I just want to win, I want to win whatever’s there. I feel like I’ve got a taste for it now, and to contribute, to give whatever I can to help the team win. I’m on it. That’s my mentality.
“I’ve seen what it means, I’ve seen what you can do, not just to your teammates and the staff but I can see what you can do to people when you win, when you bring that type of joy to the place. So to be part of that, that’s my aim.”
