UPDATE: eBay appears to be back up and running

It’s the go-to shopping website for many people around the world, but it seems that eBay has crashed this afternoon.

According to Down Detector, the problems started at around 12:33 GMT today, and are affecting shoppers across the UK and parts of Europe.

While the reason for the outage remains unclear, of those who reported issues, 74% couldn’t access the website, 16% couldn’t log-in, and 8% couldn’t check-out.

Mirror Online tried to access the eBay website, and was met by an error message reading: “Service Unavailable - DNS failure. The server is temporarily unable to service your request. Please try again later.”

Founded in 1995, eBay is one of the most popular sites for people to buy and sell goods.

At the end of last year, eBay reached 183 million active buyers worldwide, according to Statista.

Thankfully, today's outage didn't last long, and it appears that the eBay website is now back up and running.
