eBay down: Auction site crashes after being hit by technical difficulties

Auction website eBay crashed this morning as it was hit by numerous technical failures.

The entire site, including its search function, crashed.

It briefly recovered just before 8am, but went down again just before 8.15am.

eBay then told the Standard at 8.25am that the site was fully "back up and running".

The eBay site was down this morning

eBay said in a statement: "eBay experienced technical difficulties for a short period today, where users may have temporarily had trouble accessing the site.

"The issue is now fully resolved. Apologies for any inconvenience.”

Customers had posted online about seeing a message that read: "It’s not you. It’s us.

"Our server is down, but we’ll have things back to normal soon. If you still need help, visit our help pages."
