Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, is the destination for the Hanoi Kilorun 2019, a culmination of the famous Kilorun Asia series, which will take place on March 2. The venue is Ly Thai To Park, a notable spot from which tourists can peek into Hanoians' life.

Organised by Index Creative Village and AirAsia, this is the final leg of the four-part running festival of food, fun, friends and family which was warmly embraced by runners and food lovers in the first three events this year -- the Bangkok Kilorun in March, Bali Kilorun in June and Osaka Kilorun in September.

More than just a general running event, the Kilorun encourages all participants to learn about art and culture on each route, especially the food and sightseeing of the iconic city and scenery. This time around, the brand-new concept of "Run, Eat, Fun In One Go" is presented to get all contestants to experience the charms of the unique city of culture and to dine on the national signature dishes of Vietnam.

The race has two categories. The KM (as in, kilometre) Run offers three running distances of L Run 10.7km, M Run 6.7km and S Run 2.3km, from 5-8.30am. The route will cover Hanoi's iconic attractions such as Ly Thai To Statue, Hoan Kiem Lake, Hanoi Old Quarter, Hanoi Opera House and Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum.

From 2-6.30pm, the KG (as in, kilogramme) Run allows runners to walk or run while tasting gorgeous Vietnamese food which will be served at different landmark points of Hanoi along the 2.3km route.

This is a unique chance to taste famous local dishes like glass noodles with deep fried eel; barbecued pork with rice vermicelli; rice vermicelli with chicken, egg and pork; steamed rice rolls; fried dumplings; and sweet sticky rice.

Hanoi is only 1,000km away from Bangkok. For Thais and foreign tourists interested in joining the races, AirAsia offers two flights a day from Bangkok's Don Mueang to Hanoi, and four flights a week from Chiang Mai to Hanoi.

The registration fee ranges from 500 to 1,000 baht for the KM: Breakfast Run and is fixed at 1,500 baht for the KG: Dinner Run. There are packages for those wishing to join both categories with tickets priced from 1,800 to 2,250 baht.

They will also dine Vietnamese signature dishes. Index Creative Village
