Eat Out To Help Out: Downpatrick restaurant hailed as one of UK's top spots to enjoy discount meal

The UK government has today revealed some of the top 'wild and wonderful' places where customers have been enjoying their 'Eat Out to Help Out' 50% off scheme.

The list of restaurants and cafes includes one business from Northern Ireland, Fodder Farm Shop & Cafe.

Situated on the Finnebrogue Estate, just outside of Downpatrick, Fodder won praise for both its food & drinks offerings, as well as its idyllic location.

A statement from the HMRC says: "We’ve pulled together a list of unique places to eat-in which features the oldest coffee shop in the country, a cat cafe and Britain’s highest pub.

"Fodder Farm Shop and Café, in Downpatrick, Northern Ireland, offers seating inside a tipi and is situated amongst the trees of Finnebrogue Woods."

Eat Out to Help Out

Offering customers the chance to get 50% off their bills when they go to participating restaurants on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, the Eat Out to Help Out scheme has proved massively popular in Northern Ireland over the last three weeks.

Speaking about the schemes impact, Secretary of State for Northern Ireland Brandon Lewis said: “It’s fantastic that the Eat Out to Help Out scheme has been so enthusiastically endorsed by restaurants, pubs, cafes and diners in Northern Ireland and across the UK.

“The hospitality industry is worth £1.1bn annually to Northern Ireland’s economy, and I would encourage the NI public to continue to support their local eateries by availing of this scheme ahead of its end on 31 August.”
