EasyJet to launch three new routes from Scottish airports

BUDGET airline easyJet has launched three new winter routes from Scotland.

Both Glasgow and Edinburgh will see new routes as part of the launch.

From Edinburgh, easyJet will launch flights direct to Hurghada in Egypt and to Rovaniemi in Finland.

And from Glasgow, flights will go directly to Hurghada, a beach resort town on the north-west coast of the Red Sea known for its scuba diving.

Rovaniemi is known as the capital of Lapland and is famous for being a great spot to see the Northern Lights.

EasyJet said that the first flights to the Egyptian destination would take off on November 6, while the first to Finland are scheduled for December 3. Tickets are available to book now.

Ali Gayward, easyJet's UK country manager, said: “We’re delighted to be launching even more new routes from our airports across Scotland to a range of fantastic destinations, providing evening more choice for our customers this winter whether they’re looking for a Christmas getaway, hitting the slopes, or chasing the winter sun and we can’t wait to welcome more customers on board.”

Rob Lang, Edinburgh Airport’s head of marketing, said: “These new routes are like Christmas come early for people already planning for that winter getaway!

“Rovaniemi will be a chance to visit Santa, view the Northern Lights and experience that winter postcard for yourself, while Hurghada will be the perfect choice for those seeking some sun and relaxation by the pool.

“We hope passengers are excited about yet more choice from Edinburgh Airport with easyJet.”

Glasgow Airport’s Christopher Tibbett said: "We are thrilled to welcome easyJet's launch of a twice weekly service to Hurghada in Egypt.

“EasyJet have already launched several new routes for Glasgow Airport this year, including to Porto and Lisbon, and this additional new route marks an exciting expansion for easyJet and demonstrates our commitment to providing our passengers with diverse and enticing travel options.”
