EasyJet Spain flights still going ahead despite FCO advice banning travel there

EasyJet has said it will continue flying customers to Spain despite the Foreign Office advising against all non-essential travel to the country.

The low-cost airline has cancelled all Spain package holidays to mainland Spain, the Canary Islands, and the Balearic Islands until July 31.

But it said that flights will still operate despite the Foreign Office advising against all non-essential travel to mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands and Canary Islands.

All travellers returning from Spain to the UK must now quarantine for 14 days after the UK government's decision to remove Spain from its 'air bridge' list.

An easyJet spokesperson said: "We are planning to operate flights to all of Spain in the coming days but we continue to monitor this with a view to align the flight schedule to demand."

EasyJet are offering customers with existing bookings free changes to their booking up to 28 days before departure and "wherever we can in other circumstances".

Customers who no longer wish to travel can transfer their flights without a change fee or receive a voucher for the value of the booking.

EasyJet say should any flights be cancelled for later in August customers will be notified and informed of their options which includes transferring to an alternative flight free of charge, receiving a voucher or applying for a refund via a webform on our dedicated Covid Help Hub at  easyJet.com.

Matt Callaghan, customer director of easyJet holidays, said: "We’re really sorry for any disappointment caused to customers due to travel to mainland Spain, the Canary Islands, and the Balearic Islands in the next few weeks.

"We have taken the decision to cancel holidays to these destinations when we restart our operations on August 1.

"This is in line with one of our key commitments to only operate to countries where we believe customers can have a safe and enjoyable holiday.

"We’ve contacted affected customers already and will process a refund for them which will be available very shortly should they wish to book another holiday.

"We also have a very flexible approach for customers with existing bookings who are feeling unsure about travelling and will support with free changes to their booking up to 28 days before departure and wherever we can in other circumstances."

Holiday firms TUI and Jet2 cancelled all flights and holidays to the Balearic Islands and Canary Islands on Monday evening.

TUI has axed holidays to the islands from Tuesday 28th July up to and including Friday 31st July.

TUI holidays to the mainland of Spain are cancelled between Sunday 26th July up to and including Sunday 9th August.

Previously the travel ban only related to mainland Spain which had led to Jet2 axing all holidays there until August 17.
