Easyjet sorry after Edinburgh passengers stuck at airport 'with no food or water'

A furious passenger has hit out at easyJet after claiming that she was held at Edinburgh Airport for ‘hours’ with no food or water.

The passenger on the easyJet flight from London to Glasgow, claims that when it was diverted to Edinburgh, passengers were left ‘on the tarmac' and told that there were no refreshments left.

The customer slammed the airline saying: “LGW-GLA Flight EZY887 diverted to Edinburgh and still sitting on the tarmac for the last almost three hours. No food or water offered as they “have none...Disgusting.”

EasyJet confirmed to Edinburgh Live that on August 9, flight EZY887 from London Gatwick to Glasgow had to be diverted to Edinburgh due to continued thunderstorms over Glasgow.

The airline said the plane stood still for one hour and 58 minutes and the delay was caused by passengers who decided to ‘offload’ while in the capital.

A spokesperson for easyJet said: ‘“easyJet can confirm that flight EZY887 from London Gatwick to Glasgow on August 9 was diverted to Edinburgh as a result of adverse weather conditions.

"Once the aircraft had refuelled and the weather improved, it continued its journey to Glasgow.

“Whilst this was outside of our control, we are sorry for the inconvenience caused as a result of the weather. The safety and wellbeing of our customers and crew is always our highest priority.”
