EasyJet plane with Brits on board crashes into aircraft at Amsterdam airport

An easyJet plane and a Boeing have reportedly collided on the ground at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol in the Netherlands.

The A320 collided with a KLM 737-800 at the Dutch airport this morning.

Both aircrafts have been damaged, with reports of the easyJet's wing becoming lodged in the second aircraft.

A passenger onboard the easyJet flight described the plane making a "shuddering sound" before coming to a halt.

Courtley Winter said: "I was on board this aircraft this morning and was looking out the window when we struck the KLM aircraft.

"The plane made a shuddering sound and ground to a halt.   It looked like both planes were pulling back from the terminal."

The Boeing was ready to leave for Madrid and the easyJet plane was on its way to London.

Passengers were believed to be on board both planes at the time and were evacuated back into the terminal.

KLM is still trying to fly the passengers to Madrid with another aircraft.

One passenger on board the easyJet flight took to Twitter to say they were lodged in the KLM plane.

They wrote: "My easyJet flight from Amsterdam to London just literally backed up INTO another plane.

"Our wing is lodged in a KLM tail.

"We're stuck on the plane while they're investigating."

Another Twitter user added: "In Schiphol Amsterdam airport a @KLM and an @easyJet plane crashed into each other at the gate pushback."

An easyJet statement said: "easyJet can confirm that two aircraft made contact during pushback from stand, one of which was EasyJet flight EJU8868 from Amsterdam to London Gatwick.

“Passengers have now disembarked into the terminal where they have been provided with updates and refreshment vouchers.

"The flight is now due to be operated by a replacement aircraft.

"The safety of its passengers and crew is easyJet's highest priority and an investigation has been launched in line with procedure to understand what happened.”

It's believed the accident is also being investigated by the Dutch Safety Board.
