An easyJet plane was seen circling above Liverpool Airport for around an hour.
ECHO readers got in touch to say the "low flying" plane had flown past their houses as it was doing loops above the Speke airport this morning.
Flight radar maps show the EZY9 Airbus EasyJet plane repeatedly circling the airport after taking off at 8.30am.
It finally landed at the Liverpool airport at 12.20pm after a detour to Newquay.
But Liverpool John Lennon Airport officials today said there was no need to be alarmed as the plane was carrying out scheduled training.
David Hickman, 74, from Woolton was among those who spotted the plane as he carried out some chores this morning.
He said: "I was on my way to get a paper and t was around 9am when I looked up to the skies and saw the EasyJet plane. It seemed quite low and it kept coming back every five minutes."
After learning it was just a training exercise he joked: "We can all come out from under the chairs now."
Airport officials said the plane circled for about an hour before heading to Newquay and returning to land at Liverpool around 12.20pm.
And Liverpool John Lennon Airport spokesman Robin Tudor said: "It was just crew training by EasyJet as usual."
An EasyJet spokeswoman said: "EasyJet has been conducting routine crew training flights from Liverpool Airport today.
"The airline has a comprehensive training programme for its pilots and as part of this conducts flights of this kind every year."
