easyJet issues flight update to customers as travel restrictions continue

easyJet has issued an update to their customers as travel restrictions continue in the UK.

Customers who have credit vouchers for the company have been given "more time" to make a future booking.

Vouchers have been issued to customers whose bookings have been affected by the coronavirus travel restrictions.

The vouchers previously had to be used on a booking within a year of being issued, but the travel itself can be at a later date - reports the Daily Post.

But earlier this week the budget airline confirmed on social media that some vouchers have had their expiry dates extended.

In response to a question about their expiration, easyJet said: "We have decided to extend the length of the vouchers by a further 6 months in order to give customers more time to make a future booking."

The travel provider explained that the extension applies to credit vouchers that expire before 1 July 2021.

And according to consumer site Money Saving Expert, affected customers don't need to apply for the 6 month voucher extension as they're expected to be contacted by easyJet directly.

There's currently no extension on vouchers expiring after 30 June 2021, which are still redeemable for up to a year.

The news comes after a number of airlines announced recently that holidays are cancelled until May 16.

Customers affected by the most recent cancellations though don't have to accept vouchers from easyJet.

There are three options available to those whose flights are affected by restrictions, for example, and they can choose a credit voucher, request a refund or alternatively switch to another easyJet flight for free.

As previously reported, the airline has said it's "Protection Promise" assures that customers can "book with confidence knowing that if they are unable to travel or their plans change so can their flights or holiday."
