EasyJet issue flights update after Spain quarantine ruling

EasyJet have issued an update on their flights after the government imposed quarantine rules on travellers returning from Spain.

The move means Scots returning from Spain will have to quarantine for 14 days upon return, following a recent spike in coronavirus cases in the country.

TUI earlier announced all flights to mainland Spain have been cancelled as the holiday company expressed their 'incredible disappointment' at the move.

And easyJet has expressed similar frustration at the decision, however, all flights scheduled to depart Scotland for Spain will go ahead as planned.

In a statement the airline said: "We are disappointed that the Government has decided to impose a quarantine requirement for those travelling from the whole of Spain since the increased occurrence of coronavirus is regional rather than nationwide.

"We plan to operate our full schedule in the coming days."

Nicola Sturgeon has urged Scots to exercise caution over non essential foreign travel, warning: "Having reviewed the latest data earlier today, @scotgov is also reimposing 14 day quarantine for travellers returning from Spain.

"This reinforces the point that these matters are subject to change at short notice and so my advice is to be cautious about non essential foreign travel."
