While the former glamorous view of air stewarding has largely worn off with the growth of cheap thrills airlines, it is still a highly sought after job.
And now one of the biggest airlines easyJet is hiring for the role.
Based out of Bristol Airport, the company is looking to take people on permanently to help passengers on their flights to numerous locations across the world.
The ad on the company's website says it is looking for people to 'greet customers with enthusiasm, passion and personality', while also delivering 'great customer service on each flight' and 'maintain a great on-board environment'.
Interestingly there are very specific requirements for the role including height, size and your ability to swim.
Successful applicants will be between 5ft 2ins and 6ft 3ins (without shoes) and be able to swim 25m without assistance.
Additionally easyJet needs people who will have the 'continuing ability' of being able to fit into an aircraft jump seat harness which measures 106cm across the lap and 157cm from shoulder to waist.
As well as other requirements such as living within 90 minutes of your chosen base, applicants will need not have visible tattoos or body piercings that can't be covered discreetly.
The full details below but the airline also has an interactive 'Try before you fly' quiz to try out here.
While the requirements are precise you may enjoy the benefits of the unique role such as unlimited staff and standby travel across the easyJet network, 10 per cent commission on on-board sales and easyJet membership allowing you to pre-book seeats and be a 'speedy boarder'.
However there's no mention of how much the 'competitive' pay actually is.
A spokesman in the ad said: "Our ‘Orange Spirit’ is what makes us unique, and a great airline to fly with and work for. Our collective passion, energy and spirit of adventure will inspire you, motivate you and make sure you always enjoy coming to work.
"You’ll have a fantastic opportunity to drive your own development, all while sharing in our amazing success. It really is a career like no other.
"Already the UK’s largest airline, we’re as high-performing and fast-growing as businesses come. We fly over 50 million passengers each year to and from the UK on over 480 routes to 120 international destinations.
"Our people are at the heart of our success, and we love sharing it with them. We’re looking for passionate, motivated and enthusiastic crew members to join our expanding team"
